Bioworld Coomassie Blue R-250 (2X), 500 mL
Stain for location and detection of proteins. Protocol: After SDS-PAGE, transfer the gels in fixing solution (30% methanol and 7% acetic acid) for 30 min. under constant agitation. Replace the fixing solution, submerge the gel in stain and shake the gel gently gor 2-4 hrs. Pour off the stain, rinse the gel briefly with fixing solution and cover the gel with fresh fixing solution for 30 min. Repeat and continue destaining until distinct blue bands against a clear background are obtained. Store the gel in 7% acetic acid solution. Gel Loading Dye, Blue (6X) is a Bromophenol Blue-based loading dye offering convenient gel loading and sharp bands. You may also be interested in our Gel Loading Dye, Purple (6X) with and without SDS, for sharp bands and no UV shadow. Gel Loading Dye, Blue (6X) is a pre-mixed loading buffer with one tracking dye for agarose and non-denaturing polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. This solution contains SDS, which often results in sharper bands, as some restriction enzymes are known to remain bound to DNA following cleavage. EDTA is also included to chelate magnesium (up to 10 mM) in enzymatic reactions, thereby stopping the reaction. Bromophenol Blue is the standard tracking dye for electrophoresis. It migrates at approximately 300 bp on a standard 1% TBE agarose gel. This product is packaged as 4x1 ml vials.
